Match duration and chronology

The match consists of 3 periods of 10 minutes of playing time. In the event of a tie in regular time, penalty shots are taken, 5 from each team.

Order:

  1. Home team -> Away team, 1 penalty shot each
  2. In the event of a tie after the first 5 penalty shots:
    • The order changes (i.e., the visitors take two penalty shots in a row when the order changes).
    • Penalty shots are taken until one team has a 1-shot advantage after each team has taken their shots.
Lineups
  1. Basic lineups: 3 players and 1 goalkeeper
  2. Possible lineups for field players: 3x3, 3x4/4x3, 4x4, 5x3/3x5, 5x4/4x5, 5x5
  3. It is possible to remove and return the goalkeeper.
Fouls and penalties
  1. A player who commits a foul is sent to the bench for 1 minute.
  2. The team that committed the foul is left with 3 players, as a substitute player enters the game.
  3. The opposing team gains 1 player.
  4. After the penalty time is over, the penalized player returns to the court, thereby increasing the number of players on their team.
Logic of removals when removing players from both teams
  1. Team A violated the rules -> a player was added to team B, the lineups became 3x4
  2. Team B violated the rules -> a player was removed from team B, the lineups became 3x3
  3. Team A's violation time ended -> a player was added to team A, the lineups became 4x3
  4. Team B's penalty time ended -> a player was added to team B, the lineups became 4x4
  5. Team A violated the rules again. The lineups became 4x5 (a player was added to team B)
  6. Team B committed a violation, the lineups became 4x4 (a player was removed from team B)
  7. Team A's violation time expired -> a player was added to team A, the lineups became 5x4
  8. Team B's violation time expired -> a player was added to team B, the lineups became 5x5
Lineup reset logic

A lineup reset is a situation in which lineups return to 3x3.
Every time lineups return to 3x3, the scout will receive a “Lineup reset” event.

Situations in which lineups are reset:

  1. A goal by the majority team.
  2. Any goal when the teams are even (for example, it was 4x4 in the West/East, either team scored a goal, and the lineups became 3x3).
  3. When the game is stopped while the teams are even. Game stoppages include:
    • End of period
    • VAR (video review)
    • Pause/stop timer event
    • Any stoppage in play, even if the timer does not stop (puck goes out of bounds, etc.)

* Even if the penalty time has expired during a stoppage in play, the lineups are still reset.
